Press Release Body = Toronto - August 8, 2007 - Online time tracking and invoicing service FreshBooks today announced it has integrated with the new Amazon Flexible Payments Service (Amazon FPS) to provide money transmitter services and payment processor selection for their small to midsize business customers.
FreshBooks customers can now be paid quickly and easily by their clients through their clients' existing Amazon.com accounts. Because people only have to set up a payment method once with Amazon, payments become hassle-free. Since many clients of FreshBooks customers are also Amazon.com customers, this new payment option will help FreshBooks customers get paid faster.
"FreshBooks provides a good example of the range of payments options and control that Amazon FPS gives customers," said Adam Selipsky, Amazon Web Services Vice President of Developer Relations and Product Management. "Traditionally, developers have been limited in how they integrate payments into their applications - including what payment conditions are allowed, how payment conditions are defined, and the overall costs to process payments. By providing flexible web service APIs, Amazon FPS allows developers to customize and automate payment processes allowing them and their customers more manageability of the payment experience".
By using Amazon FPS, FreshBooks is enabling tens of millions of existing Amazon customers to transact with FreshBooks clients with little friction using the same accounts and payment instruments that they use for purchases on Amazon.com. Using the money transmitter functionality within Amazon FPS, FreshBooks will move money between invoice senders and recipients using their Amazon Payments accounts.
"Like FreshBooks, Amazon understands the power that online applications can provide to businesses. We are pleased to be invited to be among the first to use this service to break down the barriers entrepreneurs encounter in building businesses in today's connected world," said Michael McDerment, CEO of FreshBooks. "FPS promises to be an excellent tool to allow our users to more effectively manage transactions with their customers and therefore get paid in a more timely way."
With over 200,000 users since May 2004, FreshBooks is the first, largest, and fastest growing online invoicing service for freelancers and professional service companies.
Amazon FPS is currently in limited beta. Developers can sign up to use the service directly through Amazon Web Services at http://aws.amazon.com/fps.
